My wife and I moved abroad and are now looking for a UK base for holidays - is this possible?

Good morning.

I've experienced significant difficulty looking for the right mortgage, as I'm looking to take out a residential mortgage in the UK, however my family and I live in Singapore.

We moved out of the UK 5 years ago and sold our house shortly after. We return to see family most school holidays and are getting frustrated staying with friends or paying for expensive hotels. Although I've seen buy to let options, would it be possible to take out a mortgage just to use on our holidays? Eventually we would like to live in the property full-time when we retire and subsequently come back to the UK.

I'm 73 years old and am looking to extend my interest only mortgage. Can you help?

Good afternoon,

I'm hoping you can help. Our interest only mortgage term ends in a few months and my bank, who I've never missed a payment with all my life, have refused to help simply because of my age.

Me and my wife are 73 years old and live in a large 5 bedroom detached house. We have over £300,000 equity and it's always been our plan to downsize, but would like a few more years to start looking at properties.

Are there any options?

Can We Remortgage if Living Abroad?

My family and I have recently emigrated.

We own a house and are currently renting it out via an estate agent. The house is valued at approximately 550k, the mortgage is 130k. We are currently on a variable rate with a leading building society but would like a fixed rate mortgage for between 3 - 5 years. The building society we are with do not have package that suit our needs.

My question is, can we remortgage if we are living abroad?

I am earning overseas while my wife and family live in the UK

Good afternoon,

I have encountered difficulty with my bank as I look to obtain a mortgage. I have had an offer accepted on a property, however, as I work in Dubai I have been unable to obtain a suitable mortgage.

My wife lives in the UK and my children are educated in the UK, however, as I am the income earner and paid in Dirhams, my existing bank have stated that my income can not be taken into consideration as I do not pay UK tax. I am in a good job, on a good income and will be earning a lot more than if I was in a similar position back in the UK.

Is this the case with all banks or is there a solution out there?

I live and work in Australia - can I get a mortgage on my London property?

Can I get a mortgage if I live and work in Australia?

I have a property in London which is rented out, however my existing lender has said they are going to increase my interest rate as I am overseas.

What are my options?
